Marietta Countertops helps homeowners in Mableton, one of Cobb County’s newest cities, with kitchen and bath countertops. We work on everything from older houses near Floyd Road to newer homes in the subdivisions south of Smyrna.
Mableton sits in southern Cobb County, about 15 miles west-northwest of Atlanta. Smyrna borders it to the north and Austell to the west. The Chattahoochee River forms its southeast border. The 2020 census counted 40,834 people.
The town is named for Robert Mable, a Scottish immigrant who bought 300 acres here on September 11, 1843. His home, the Robert Mable House, still stands off US 78 on Floyd Road and now has an amphitheater that hosts public events. During the Civil War, Union officers reached Mableton on July 3, 1864, and were given supplies and medical care at Mable’s house.
A railroad station opened in 1881. Mableton was first made a town in 1912, but it gave up its charter in 1916 after a flood overwhelmed its sewer system. More than a century later, voters approved becoming a city again on November 8, 2022. The 61.5-mile Silver Comet Trail runs through town. Facts in this section come from Wikipedia.
Mableton has a mix of older houses and homes built during the growth of the 2000s, when the population rose from 29,733 to 37,115. Many owners want a solid upgrade without a full remodel. There are good options at every price.
Laminate is the lowest cost and comes in many stone-look patterns. Butcher block adds warmth and works well on an island. Entry-level granite is another option, so it is worth getting prices for more than one material.
Not every worn top needs to go. A small chip in granite or quartz can often be filled and polished. A loose seam can be reset. A stained spot on light granite can sometimes be lifted with a poultice. Our countertop repair service can tell you whether a fix will last.
If you do replace, a stone countertop is a long-term choice. With basic care, granite and quartz can last for decades.
Some Mableton homes have had several owners and a few rounds of updates. It is common to find laminate glued over older laminate, or tile laid on top of an old counter. All of that has to come off before a new top goes on. Ask whether removal and disposal are included when you compare prices.
Older kitchens may also have a sink base that has seen years of small leaks. Look under your sink for soft or stained wood before you start. A damaged base should be fixed first, since a new counter needs a solid, level box to sit on.
If you like a soft, warm surface, Corian is another option. It is a solid surface with no visible seams, and light scratches can be buffed out.
Chips, small scratches, and loose seams usually repair well. Deep cracks, water-swollen laminate, and tops pulling off the cabinets usually mean it is time to replace.
It can be, with regular oiling and quick drying. Many people put it on an island and use stone near the sink.
Ask every installer this. Removal and disposal are sometimes priced on their own, which changes the total.
Many newer laminates have stone patterns and better edges than older styles. They still need care around heat and water.
Yes. We serve homes all across Mableton, from neighborhoods near the trail to those close to the river.
Usually. The old sink may not fit the new cut-out, and an undermount sink makes the new counter easier to clean.
